Keto-Friendly Holiday Recipes


You may have questions about the new and trendy ketogenic diet. If you haven’t read the previous blog post on it, I would highly recommend it.

The ketogenic diet is a very-low-carbohydrate, moderate-protein, and high-fat diet that is proven to suppress your hunger, increase your satiety levels, and may boost weight loss. If you have a close friend or family member that is currently on the ketogenic diet and are wondering what types of recipes they can eat during the holiday season, here is a list! Click on the name of the recipe for a link to preparation instructions. Note that some ingredient lists are modified to reduce carbohydrate content.

Appetizers

Spicy Pecans

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp ground cumin

  • ½-3/4 tsp cayenne pepper (depending on your heat preference)

  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon

  • ½ tsp dried ground orange peel

  • ½ tsp smoked paprika

  • 1 lb. pecan halves

  • 4 Tbsp butter

  • ¼ tsp stevia

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus

Ingredients:

  • 12 spears asparagus

  • 6 slices bacon, cut in half

  • 3 ounce cream cheese

  • 1/3 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

Lunch/ Dinner

Cauliflower Mac and Cheese

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. cauliflower florets

  • ¼ cup parmesan cheese

  • 2 Tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tsp black pepper

Sauce:

  • ½ cup heavy cream

  • 3 ounces shredded cheddar cheese

  • 2 ounces cream cheese

  • 2 tsp Dijon mustard

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • ¼ tsp cayenne

Sausage and Butternut Squash Frittata

Ingredients:

  • 1 Tbsp butter

  • 3 ounces cooked sausage, chopped or crumbled

  • ¼ cup onion, diced

  • ¼ cup red pepper, diced

  • ½ cup butternut squash, cubed and roasted

  • 3 large eggs

  • ½ tsp dried herbs

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Mediterranean Hummus-Stuffed Peppers

Ingredients:

  • 10 ounce container of hummus

  • 6 baby bell peppers, cut in half lengthwise

  • ¼ cup Kalamata olives, pitted and chopped

  • ¼ cup crumbled feta

Dessert

Pumpkin Pie

Ingredients:

  • 1 unbaked coconut flour crust

  • 2 cups pumpkin puree

  • ½ tsp stevia

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • ½ tsp ground ginger

  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg

  • 3 egg yolks

  • 1 egg

  • 2/3 cup heavy cream

Hot Chocolate

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup heavy whipping cream

  • ¾ cup unsweetened soy milk

  • ½ tsp stevia

  • 2 squares Dark Chocolate

  • Whipped cream (optional)
